We pasture our laying hens and broilers (meat birds), giving the chickens the opportunity to choose portions of their diet, and engage in natural behaviors. Our ducks have access to the headwaters of the Cocolamus Creek which flows through the pasture. They spend a significant portion of their time in the pasture grazing, as well.
Smith Farm is a member of the American Pastured Poultry Producer’s Association.
Our quail are not pastured, as they have been bred over centuries to have no predator response. Unless they are well-protected, they become quick snacks for bird, reptile, and mammal predators alike.
