Pasture-Raised Pork Half Hog Deposit

A half hog will provide an estimated 80-100 pounds of cuts of meat, lard, and scrapple for your table.

The entire cost is $510.  This includes cuts to your specification, curing and smoking of meat as desired, vacuum packaging, and freezing.  If all of this seems a little daunting, as to what cuts you should choose and what should be cured, don’t worry–we’ll guide you every step of the way.

The deposit of $255 will reserve your pig.  The remaining $255 will be due when your pork is picked up.  Fresh (uncured) pork, scrapple, and lard is estimated to be ready for pick-up May 20, 2023.  The cured pork (ham and bacon) will be ready May 27. Grilled ham is spectacular; you could amaze your Memorial Day guests this year. Pick-up is at the farm.

If you are looking to order a whole hog, simply order a quantity of two.  The cost of a whole hog is $990, with a $495 deposit required to order.

We’ve heard from some of you that you don’t use lard.  If you still choose not to receive the lard from your pork share, that’s fine.  However, consider looking at some resources on lard nutrition.  This article specifically mentions that you need to find a pure source.  The lard you receive will be from your pig only.  Compared to other solid fats–particularly vegetable shortening and coconut oil–pastured lard has many advantageous merits.
